Huntingdon women pick up first conference win of the season

STAUNTON, Va. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team set the tone early on Sunday and earned its first USA South Athletic Conference win of the season.

The Lady Hawks scored twice in the first 13 minutes and knocked off Mary Baldwin 5-2.

Huntingdon (3-5, 1-3 USA South) took the lead three minutes into the game when Hanna Cloud scored on an assist from Kira Bohlke. Less than 10 minutes later, Shelby Clark made it 2-0 when she scored on an assist from Jenna Maschino.

The Lady Hawks carried the lead into the half. A little more than two minutes into the second half, Abi Olmeda scored on an assist from Carlie Reed to make it 3-0.

Mary Baldwin (3-6, 0-4 USA South) rallied and pulled within a goal in the second half, but the Lady Hawks answered to put the game away. Clark scored her second goal of the game on an assist from Olmeda in the 58th minute and Bohlke closed the scoring with a goal in the 70th minute.

Keeper Leah Leach finished with seven saves and two goals allowed.

Huntingdon returns to action at Piedmont on Saturday.
