BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team fell 1-0 to in-state rival Birmingham-Southern on Thursday.
First-year head coach Matt Gill thought his team played well in the second-half despite the loss.
"Although we had a slow start to the game, I thought the girls showed a no-quit attitude in the second-half," Gill said. "A few chances off the post and the game could've gone either way. We are working on the small details for the program to move forward."
The Panthers scored the lone goal with around 15 minutes left in the first-half and outshot Huntingdon 21-5.
Sophomore keeper Leah Leach finished with seven saves and allowed one goal for Huntingdon. Jazmin Martinez, Camryn Carter, Ali Brewer and Clara Tapplin each had one shot on goal for Huntingdon.
The Lady Hawks host Toccoa Falls on Saturday at 2 p.m. on the Huntingdon soccer field.
