MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team earned its first USA South Athletic Conference win of the season on Sunday, beating Wesleyan 2-0 at home.

Head coach Matt Gill was happy that his team was able to bounce back after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Agnes Scott on Saturday.

"I thought we didn't come out with the energy to win on Saturday, so to get this win today was great," Gill said. "We came out with energy and a little swagger and we scored twice in the second-half after having opportunities early, so it was a good day."

The Lady Hawks (2-2-1, 1-1 USA South) controlled the ball for most of the first-half, taking eight shots but only placing two on target.

Huntingdon opened the second-half with the same ball control it had in the first. After three early Huntingdon shots, Camryn Carter scored off a Jenna Maschino corner kick to give the Lady Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute.

Huntingdon continued to dominate on offense and found the back of the goal again with a perfectaly placed Jazmin Martinez shot in the 75th minute.

Huntingdon held a 27-1 shot advantage over the Wolves (3-1-0, 1-1 USA South) and took 19 second-half shots. The Lady Hawks placed 12 shots on goal with 10 coming in the second-half.

Clara Tapplin and Reilly Feeney each record four shots while Shelby Clark, Madi Critcher and Carter each took three. Martinez had a game-high three shots on goal and Critcher recorded two shots on goal.

Nine players recorded at least one shot goal for Huntingdon.

Keeper Leah Leach recorded her third shutout of the year in the win.

Huntingdon hosts LaGrange on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Samford Stadium.
