MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team battled Maryville College to a 0-0 double overtime draw on Saturday night in a USA South Athletic Conference matchup.
The tie snapped a losing streak to the Scots dating to at least the fall of 2002. The Scots had won the previous 16 straight meetings during the NCAA era (2004-present) and three meetings in 2002 and 2003. Records before 2002 were not readily available Saturday night.
Maryville defeated the Lady Hawks 5-0 last season and 10-2 in 2014.
In a game dominated by the Scots' (1-5-1, 3-3-2 USA South) offense, Leah Leach came up big for Huntingdon, recording a season-high 12 saves. Maryville outshot Huntingdon 28-3 and had 12 shots on goal.
Abi Olmeda, Jenna Maschino and Clara Tapplin each recorded one shot for Huntingdon (3-3-2, 2-2-1 USA South). Tapplin recorded the Lady Hawk's lone shot on goal.
Huntingdon travels to Piedmont on Saturday for a USA South matchup starting at 1 p.m.
