Lady Hawks come up short at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team battled Piedmont College but fell 2-1 on Saturday.

Huntingdon's Jenna Maschino scored to make it a 1-1 game in the 49th minute before Piedmont answered with the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute.

Piedmont (5-4-1, 4-1-1 USA South) is tied for second in the USA South West standings. Huntingdon (3-4-2, 2-3-1 USA South) is fifth.

This was the just the fourth game in which Huntingdon has allowed a goal this season and the first time the Lady Hawks have allowed more than one goal in a game this season.

Maschino's goal was the only shot taken by Huntingdon on Saturday. Piedmont took seven shots on goal and 15 total shots.

Huntingdon keeper Leah Leach finished with five saves and two goals allowed.

Huntingdon plays at Salem (8-1-1, 4-1-1 USA South) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
