Women’s tennis receives ITA academic honors
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team was recognized by the ITA on Tuesday with the release of the All-Academic teams and Scholar-Athletes.
Huntingdon was named an ITA All-Academic team for the 13th time in the past 15 seasons and five Lady Hawks (senior Caroline McBroom, juniors Josie Waddell and Heather Tabor, sophomore Clayton Waring and freshman Lucy Burch) were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Since 2004, Huntingdon has produced 58 ITA Scholar-Athletes. Waddell and Waring are among 13 Huntingdon players to earn the honor at least twice. This is the third time Waddell has received the recognition and the second time Waring has been recognized.
To qualify as an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a 3.50 GPA or higher and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters. The All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
