Waddell named 1st-team All-Conference, Robinson and Burnham named All-Division
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Three Huntingdon women's tennis players were recognized with the release of the USA South All-Conference Awards on Thursday.
Senior Josie Waddell was named first-team All-Conference and first-team West Division. Senior Zoya Robinson was named first-team West Division and freshman Alex Burnham was named second-team West Division. Sophomore Lucy Burch was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Waddell is the Lady Hawks' first two-time first-team All-Conference selection in the USA South. This is the third straight season she has been recognized by the USA South. Waddell was a second-team West Division selection as a sophomore before becoming the first Lady Hawk to earn first-team USA South All-Conference honors last season.
Waddell enters the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament with 114 career wins (59 singles wins and 55 doubles wins). She holds Huntingdon's NCAA-era record for doubles victories and ranks third in singles victories and total victories.
This season, Waddell is 15-3 in singles and 15-3 in doubles. In singles, she is 11-3 at No. 1, 2-0 at No. 2 and 2-0 at No. 3. She was 6-2 against conference opponents. In doubles, she and Robinson are 15-3 at No. 1 and finished 7-1 in conference play.
This is the third time Robinson has been recognized by the USA South. Robinson was an honorable mention All-Conference selection as a freshman before earning second-team West Division honors last season.
Robinson has 79 career wins (32 singles wins and 47 doubles wins). During the NCAA era, she ranks 10th in program history in total victories and sixth in doubles victories.
In addition to a 15-3 doubles record, she is 10-4 in singles this season. She is 7-4 at No. 2 singles, 1-0 at No. 1 and 2-0 at No. 3. She finished conference play with a 6-1 record.
In her first collegiate season, Burnham was 5-0 at No. 6 singles and 9-2 in doubles. Playing with three different doubles partners, she was 5-0 at No. 2 doubles and 4-2 at No. 3 doubles.
