Lady Hawks earn ITA academic honors
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team was recognized by the ITA on Thursday with the release of the All-Academic teams and Scholar-Athletes.
Huntingdon was named an ITA All-Academic team for the 14th time in the past 16 seasons and five Lady Hawks (seniors Josie Waddell and Heather Tabor, junior Clayton Waring and freshmen Ashley Burke and Emma Moore) were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Since 2004, Huntingdon has produced 63 ITA Scholar-Athletes. Waddell, Waring and Tabor are among 14 Lady Hawks to earn the honor at least twice. Waddell is the fourth Huntingdon player to earn the honor four times. This is the third time Waring has been recognized and the second time Tabor has been recognized.
To qualify as an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a 3.50 GPA or higher and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters. The All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
