Huntingdon volleyball splits on first day of Huntingdon Jubilee

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team dropped its first match of the season but followed up with a win in its second match in the Huntingdon College Jubilee on Friday. The Lady Hawks fell to Birmingham-Southern 25-12, 25-17, 25-13 before knocking off LaGrange 25-19, 25-21, 26-24.

Kelly Kahumoku and Kali Martin combined for 29 kills in the two matches and Lexi Rangel had 42 assists. Kahumoku had a team-high 10 kills and eight digs against LaGrange and five kills against Birmingham-Southern. Martin led the Lady Hawks with eight kills and seven digs in the loss and six kills and five digs against LaGrange. Rangel recorded 16 assists and six digs in the first match and 26 assists and 11 digs in the second match. Abby Brown added six kills against LaGrange.

Huntingdon returns to action in the tournament on Saturday. The Lady Hawks play Mississippi College at 10 a.m. and Piedmont College at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played in Wilson Gym.
