Huntingdon volleyball stumbles in GSAC finals

DECATUR, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team battled its way to the Great South Athletic Conference tournament finals on Saturday, but the Lady Hawks came up short in the championship match.

Facing Salem College for the third time this season, Huntingdon couldn't complete the season sweep of the Spirits. Salem took the championship match 25-20, 25-23, 19-25-25-9. Huntingdon reached the championship match by eliminating Spelman 25-13, 25-15, 23-25, 25-19 in the GSAC semifinals.

Huntingdon ends the season at 15-18.

Kelly Kahumoku, Lauren Rozof, Kali Martin and Abby Brown accounted for 53 of Huntingdon's 65 kills in the two matches. Kahumoku totaled 19 kills for the day, Martin added 13 kills, Rozof followed with 12 kills and Brown had nine kills. Kahumoku also had 14 digs, Rozof recorded 20 digs and Martin added nine digs and nine assists.

Lexi Rangel turned in a team-high 28 assists and 23 digs and Bianca Hulsey finished with 15 assists on the day and eight digs against Salem. Storm McWhorter had 12 digs against Spelman and Ally Brislinger had three blocks in the semifinal match.
