Huntingdon splits on final day of Sewanee Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon volleyball team closed out the final day of the Sewanee Invitational with a loss to Middle Georgia State and a win over Boyce College.

The Hawks fell to the NAIA Knights 22-25, 25-20, 18-25, 16-25 and defeated Boyce 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-13.

Kalen Morgan, Bria Rochelle and Alexis Creasman combined for 44 kills and nine blocks in the two matches and Kaitlyn Carter and Devyn Stringer combined for 48 assists.

Against Middle Georgia (4-3), Morgan had a team-high nine kills and Rochelle added eight kills, five aces, eight digs and two blocks. Carter finished with 15 assists and five digs and Stringer followed with eight assists.

Shelby Young had seven digs, Porsha Wilson had five digs, Audrianna Hargitt had three blocks and Alex Carroll had four aces.

In the win over Boyce (1-5), Rochelle and Creasman each had nine kills and Morgan and Hargitt each had six kills. Morgan also had three blocks. Carter finished with a team-high 15 assists and 11 digs and Stringer added 10 assists. Young and Carroll each recorded 10 digs.

Huntingdon (2-2) returns to action on Friday in the Belhaven Classic. The Hawks are scheduled to play Belhaven at 3 p.m. and Centenary at 5 p.m.
