Huntingdon Athletics Announces Next Head Women's Tennis Coach

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Athletics has announced the hiring of Justin McQueen to serve as the next Head Women's Tennis Coach.

"After conducting a national search which included a wide variety of tennis candidates on all levels, we feel Justin is best suited to lead our women's program and maintain it's tradition of competitiveness and family culture that Ximena Moore created," Athletic Director Eric Levanda said.

A 2017 graduate of Huntingdon College, Justin was a member of the Men's Tennis Team from Fall 2013-May 2017. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management with a minor in History. Justin was a three time member of the USA South All-Academic team and two time member of the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. He was also a member of the Huntingdon SAAC.

"Justin was recruited here, competed here, and his familiarity with Huntingdon and Huntingdon with him is an invaluable asset," Levanda said. "I watched him compete and grow in his four years as a student-athlete and I'm looking forward to watching him continue to do both as the leader of our women's tennis program."

Before joining the staff at Huntingdon College, Justin served as Head Tennis Coach at John Carroll Catholic High School as well as Tennis Coordinator and Professional at the Hoover Met Complex.

"I really enjoyed my time here as a player and as a student," McQueen said. "This was a place that really was my home for 4 years. The chance to come back here was an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

While working at the Hoover Met Complex, Justin managed all aspects of the court schedule, including league play, open play, clinics and lessons. He taught lessons and clinics to players of all ages and skill levels with a focus in Junior Player Development. Additionally, Justin managed pro shop staff and operations, court maintenance, organization of tournaments, and member communication.

As Head Tennis Coach at John Carroll Catholic High School, Justin restarted the tennis program in February 2019 after the school previously discontinued the program in 2009. In just their 3rd season of the program, both boys' and girls' teams made the state tournament with the boys' team finishing 4th in the state.

"I remember the excitement of the season coming and thinking what can I do to get better each day. I'm most excited about the competition, getting to know the team, and seeing how we can get better each day," McQueen said.

Justin is married to Jamie Langford McQueen, a 2017 Huntingdon graduate and former member of the softball team.
