The USA South Athletic Conference's 17th annual Cans Across The Conference food drive competition has concluded. Since classes began this fall until yesterday, USA South member institutions participated in the community service competition. Each campus Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) collected cans and other non-perishable items to benefit a local charity of their choosing. The institution with the most items collected is crowned the Cans Across the Conference Champion. 

With a grand total of 11,361 items, Averett University is the Cans Across the Conference Champion for 2021. The Cougars have now claimed their sixth consecutive competition victory. Averett's collection is the ninth-most garnered in a single year by an institution in the during the life of the competition. Pfeiffer University collected 3,838 items to finish second while Huntingdon College's 3,658 items rounded out the top-three.

Overall, the USA South institutions collected 28,062 items this fall. Over the 17-year history of the program, USA South Conference institutions have donated 603,230 items to various organizations.

Individually, four institutions, consisting of Greensboro, Mary Baldwin, Pfeiffer, and Salem, improved on their collection amounts from a year ago. Additionally, of those schools, Pfeiffer set new single-year record for its institution.

Averett University: God's Storehouse Food Bank in Danville, Virginia.
Brevard College: The Sharing House in Brevard, North Carolina.
Greensboro College: Greensboro, North Carolina Urban Ministry Food Bank.
Huntingdon College: Metropolitan United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Montgomery, Alabama.
LaGrange College: Feeding the Valley Foundation in LaGrange, Georgia.
Mary Baldwin University: Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Verona, Virginia.
Meredith College: The Raleigh, North Carolina With Love From Jesus Ministry.
Methodist University: Fayetteville, North Carolina Urban Ministry Food Bank.
N.C. Wesleyan College: The Elm City, North Carolina United Methodist Church.
Pfeiffer University: Stanly Community Christian Ministry in Albemarle, North Carolina.
Piedmont University: The Habersham County (GA) Soup Kitchen.
Salem College: The Shalom Project of Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Southern Virginia University: Food Pantry of Buena Vista, Virginia.
William Peace University: The Pacer Pantry on the WPU Campus which assists families-in-need within the University community.
