Fred Flavors Named to D3Football.com All-American Teams

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Football Senior Fred Flavors was recently named to the 2021 D3football.com All-America Team. Flavors was named to the 1st Team for Special Teams and 2nd Team for Cornerback.

Flavors is the 6th Huntingdon Football player to be named an All-American and 1st to be named 1st Team for Special Teams.

The senior from Atmore, Alabama, totaled 8 blocked kicks in 4 seasons with the Hawks, including 5 in the 2021-22 Fall season. He played in 11 games this season and had 29 solo tackles and 8 assists. Flavors was also ranked 3rd on the NCAA DIII College Football list for overall blocked kicks, behind 2 players tied for 1st with 6 blocked kicks. 

"We are extremely proud of Fred and all that he accomplished while he was a member of our team," Head Coach Mike Turk said. "The fact that he is being recognized as an All-American at 2 positions speaks volumes about his ability and about his value to our team. I am even more proud of the way he developed as a leader for us in his position group, on our defense, and for our football team. His attitude and work ethic made him an absolute pleasure to coach."

"I want to thank the many people who helped me win this achievement," Fred Flavors said. "First, thank God for allowing me the ability to play and love football. This has been an accumulation of 4 fantastic years at Huntingdon."

"I came here and met many terrific teammates and friends. These bonds will remain for a lifetime because of how we have worked to win 3 conference championships. Coach Turk and our coaching staff gave us the tools to play at a high level and grow as men," Flavors said.

"My instructors at Huntingdon have provided me with an education so I may achieve in life the goals I have. My parents and sisters have been a positive force to help me become a man. My High School, Escambia Academy helped me get it all started," Flavors said. "To all of those listed above and many more - I hope you feel as much a part of being named an All-American as I do. Go Hawks!"
