Huntingdon Men's Tennis Preseason Report

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Men's Tennis has brought in 4 new players to join a core returning group that includes 3 seniors. The young athletes are ready to make an impact.

In the 2020-21 season, the Hawks were 5-8 overall and 2-3 in conference.

Players to Watch

The returning seniors are: Clint Robinson, Domenic Terrell, and Carson Sands.

"I am looking forward to our Number One doubles team, Carson Sands and Lane Young. They are both aggressive players," Franklin said. "Carson will be returning from the deuce court and Lane from the add court."

"Their service returns will set the other up for poaching and put pressure on the serves of their opponents. Also, they will be very aggressive during our service games," Franklin said.

Expectations

"I am expecting this team to be competitive in every match we play this spring," Franklin said. "We are playing some very good teams which will challenge our team to continue working hard to improve every day.

Aside from conference opponents, the Hawks are also playing in-state rival Birmingham-Southern, Belhaven, Millsaps, and Division II opponents Tuskegee and Shorter.

"I think this year's team will be fun to watch," Franklin said. "They are gaining confidence and continue to work very hard to implement new shots and strategies in both singles and doubles. I am very excited about this year's team. They continue to improve year to year."

The Hawks open their season on Friday, February 18th with matches at home against Tuskegee. For the full schedule and roster information, visit https://www.huntingdonhawks.com/sports/mten/index.
