BASEBALL

Baseball Player of the Week
Gavin Wheeler, Methodist - The senior outfielder from Fayetteville, North Carolina went a combined 10-for-16 (.625) with a .579 on-base percentage, and a .688 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, six RBI, one double, one walk, and two stolen bases as the Monarchs posted a 3-1 record last week. In a 12-4 win over Guilford, Wheeler was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, one run batted in, and a double. In taking two of three games over Piedmont, who is currently receiving votes in the D3baseball.com/NCBWA national poll, Wheeler was a combined 7-for-11 with one run scored, five RBI, one walk, and two stolen bases. Also Nominated: Michael Robertson, Mary Baldwin; Andrew Brock, Covenant; Brandon Hatcher, Averett; Carter Ballstadt, Piedmont; Tyson Bass, N.C. Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Bryce Bollinger, Covenant - The sophomore from Portland, Tennessee tossed six shutout innings in his only appearance last week for the Scots, a 2-0 win over Ferrum. Bollinger allowed four hits and four walks while striking out five batters in the victory. Baseball Rookie of the Week
Frankie Vasquez, Brevard - The freshman infielder from Pembroke Pines, Florida went a combined 7-for-12 (.583) with a .500 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, four RBI, two doubles, and his first career home run as the Tornados took two of three games from Averett last week. Also Nominated: Kenneth Henderson, Berea; Kevin Zischke, Averett; Kyle Carlson, Piedmont; Cam Watts, Greensboro; Jorge Fragoso, LaGrange.

Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Jarrett Hall, Methodist - The freshman from Newport, North Carolina earned a win in two relief appearances last week for the Monarchs. Hall tossed a total of 4.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. His victory came over Piedmont when he relieved the starter in the fifth inning and went three innings, striking out four. Also Nominated: None.

 

SOFTBALL

Softball Player of the Week
Bailey Murphy, Huntingdon - The junior first baseman from Semmes, Alabama was a combined 4-for-6 (.667) with a .667 on-base percentage and an .833 slugging percentage to go along with two runs scored, three RBI, and one double as the Hawks swept a doubleheader from Mississippi University for Women last week. Also Nominated: Jani Howington, Agnes Scott; Skyler Walker, N.C. Wesleyan; Brianne Coleman, Salem; Marybeth Strickler, Mary Baldwin; Maggie White, LaGrange; Afton Brown, Southern Virginia.

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Cheyanne Cox, Greensboro - The senior from Burlington, North Carolina earned a 2-0 record in two appearances last week for the Pride against Randolph. Cox totaled 12 shutout innings pitched, allowing seven hits and two walks with nine strikeouts. Cox picked up a complete-game shutout victory in the first game and came on in relief to grab the win in game two. Also Nominated: Laila Holloway, N.C. Wesleyan; Crimson Wells, Huntingdon; Madison Thomas, Salem; Brittany Jones, Methodist.

Softball Rookie of the Week
Skyler Walker, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman infielder from Wilmington, North Carolina went a combined 4-for-5 (.800) with a .833 on-base percentage and an .800 slugging percentage to go along with one run scored, three RBI, and one stolen base as the Battling Bishops swept a doubleheader from Carolina University last week. Also Nominated: Miranda Treadway, Huntingdon; Allison Crum, Mary Baldwin.

Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Laila Holloway, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Winston-Salem, North Carolina earned a win and a save in two relief appearances last week for the Battling Bishops against Carolina University. Holloway totaled 4.2 shutout innings pitched, allowing three hits and one walk. Also Nominated: Megan Steinmeyer, Piedmont.

 

MEN'S LACROSSE

Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Shawn Lamb, Southern Virginia - The Buena Vista, Virginia senior attackman tallied seven points on four goals and three assists in a 17-16, overtime, win over Baldwin Wallace, the team's only action last week. Lamb also collected three ground ball and caused one turnover in the victory. Also Nominated: Avery Jenks, Piedmont; Jesse Leyble, Methodist; Ian Bruggeman, Huntingdon; Quinn Becraft, Pfeiffer; Connor Taff, Averett.

Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Tucker Hill, Pfeiffer - The Victor, New York senior faceoff specialist was 37-for-43 (.860) on draws while also adding 22 ground balls, three caused turnovers, three goals, and one assist, as the Falcons posted a 2-0 record last week. In an 18-7 win over Lees-McRae, Hill was 19-for-25 on draws with 12 ground balls, two caused turnovers, three goals, and one assist. In a 15-6 victory at Guilford, Hill was a perfect 18-for-18 on faceoffs with ten ground balls and one caused turnover. Also Nominated: Matthew Liquori, Methodist; Gavin McNeill, Huntingdon; Marques Fleming, Averett; Isaac Bohrer, LaGrange; Jaydon Arnold, Southern Virginia.

Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Mason Tardiff, Pfeiffer - The Peterborough, Ontario freshman attackman scored two goals with an assist, five ground balls, and one caused turnover as the Falcons posted a 2-0 record last week. In an 18-7 win over Lees-McRae, Tardiff scored once and grabbed a ground ball. In a 15-6 victory over Guilford, Tardiff totaled one goal, one assist, four ground balls, and one caused turnover. Also Nominated: Jadon Morini, Piedmont; Jay Etheridge, Averett; Gabe King, Southern Virginia.

 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Lindley Ward, Piedmont - The Snellville, Georgia junior midfielder totaled 13 points on ten goals and three assists, to go along with 16 ground balls, ten draw controls, and five caused turnovers last week as the Lions posted a 3-0 record. The wins came against Warren Wilson, Guilford, and Hendrix. Ward's week highs included six goals, two assists, nine ground balls, five draw controls, and five caused turnovers. Also Nominated: Arrianna May, Meredith; Rosa Williams, Methodist; Alexis Murriel, Pfeiffer; Elizabeth Peasley, Averett; Parker Moore, Brevard; Madison Bradley, William Peace.

Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Alexis Murriel, Pfeiffer - The Gastonia, North Carolina senior attacker totaled game-highes of ten draw controls, eight ground balls, and six caused turnovers in a 15-14 loss to Ferrum, the Facons' only contest of last week. Murriel also added five goals and one assist in the defeat. Also Nominated: Jem Golombeski, Methodist; Elizabeth Peasley, Averett; Jessica Webb, Southern Virginia.

Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Faith Bowlin, Averett - The Abingdon, Maryland freshman attacker totaled eight points on six goals and two assists, to go along with five draw controls, one ground ball, and one caused turnover as the Cougars defeated Randolph, 24-5, in the team's only contest last week. Also Nominated: Lauryn Turner, Meredith; Aly Reece, Piedmont; Erika Henry, Methodist; Analise Robinson, Pfeiffer; Emily Denaga, Brevard.

 

MEN'S TENNIS

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Jordan Theron, Methodist - The sophomore from Durban, South Africa earned a 2-0 singles record last week for the Monarchs, both against Division I Richmond. Theron got straight-set wins at both the number-one and two spots in two separate team matches. Also Nominated: Ethan Gibson, Covenant; Dylan Masters, Pfeiffer; Chris Bale, Piedmont; Ethan McGee, Brevard; Jorge Figueroa, Averett.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Ryan Raugh, Piedmont - The freshman from Woodstock, Georgia earned a singles and doubles victory over opponents from Saint Mary's (MN) in his only action last week for the Lions. Raugh's singles win came at the number-four position while his doubles victory was at the second spot with Cooper Kework. Also Nominated: Andres Valdez-Arze, Pfeiffer; Jay Trip, Averett.

Men's Doubles Team of the Week
Martinho Goncalves and Rufus Nurminen, Averett - The Cougar duo earned a 2-0 record at the number-one doubles position last week. The wins came over opponents from Shaw and Virgina Wesleyan. Also Nominated: Chris Bale and Patrick Dempsey, Piedmont.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Allexii Bassette, Huntingdon - The freshman from Miami, Florida earned a 3-0 singles record at the number-one position for the Hawks last week. Bassette earned wins over opponents from Millsaps, Birmingham Southern, and Belhaven. Also Nominated: Kristal Dule, N.C. Wesleyan; Lauren Carr, Covenant; Melissa Gish, Piedmont; Maxence Lippens, Averett.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week

Allexii Bassette and Madeline Creel, Huntingdon - The Hawk duo earned a 3-0 record at the number-one doubles position last week. The wins came over opponents from Millsaps, Birmingham Southern, and Belhaven. Also Nominated: Alyssa McSpadden and Imani Vincent, Piedmont; Kristal Dule and Elisa Mariotti, N.C. Wesleyan; Hamrick Perry and Sophie Trantham, Brevard; Megan Lombardt and Inka Zeilstra, Averett.

 

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Tasker Brown, Pfeiffer - The junior from Powell, Ohio competed at the UNC Wilmington Invitational last week in three events. In the 400 meters, he placed fourth out of 20 in a time of 50.99. In the 200 meters, Brown was 12th out of 48 with a time of 23.03. Finally, he was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team who placed first out of three teams in a time of 43.08. Also Nominated: Austin Ezzell, Methodist; Noah Norman, Covenant. 

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Will Underwood, Piedmont - The senior from Senoia, Georgia competed at the Southern Wesleyan Susan Rouse Invitational last week in two events. In the shot put, Underwood placed 13th out of 25 with an effort of 10.93 meters. In the javelin, Underwood was eighth out of 20 with a throw of 37.30 meters. Also Nominated: Aaron Nash, Methodist.

Men's Track Rookie of the Week
Noah Norman, Covenant - The freshman from Lookout Mountain, Georgia competed at the Victor Icebreaker Duals last week in the 400 meters and as a part of the 4x400 meter relay team. He posted a time of 51.35 in the 400 meters, good for sixth out of 15, and his 4x400 meter relay team placed fourth out of five teams with 3:31.78. Also Nominated: Jalen Rushin, Methodist. 

Men's Field Rookie of the Week
Aaron Nash, Methodist - The freshman from Powhatan, Virginia competed at the UNC Wilmington Invitational last week in two meets. In the high jump, Nash was fourth with an effort of 1.83 meters while in the long jump, Nash placed second with a best distance of 6.68 meters. Also Nominated: Camren Gray, Pfeiffer; David Anderson, Piedmont.

 

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Mariah Brooks, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Lawrenceville, Georgia competed at the UNC Wilmington Invitational last week in two events. In the 100 meters, Brooks placed second out of 20 in a time of 12.30. In the 200 meters, Brooks finished third out of 25 in a time of 25.20. Also Nominated: Corrine Weaver, Meredith; Courtney Drumm, Methodist; Micah Welborn, Pfeiffer; S.K. Lipperd, Covenant. 

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Aaliyah Thomas, Pfeiffer - The senior from Pawley's Island, South Carolina competed at the UNC Wilmington Invitational last week in four events. Thomas set a new program record in the shot put with a throw of 11.20 meters, good for seventh out of 20. In the discus, Thomas placed eighth out of 18 with an effort of 29.41 meters while in the hammer she was fifth out of 18 with a throw of 40.91 meters. Finally, in the javelin, Thomas placed sixth out of 13 with an effort of 13.89 meters. Also Nominated: Tatyana Jordan, Methodist; Jae Woods, Covenant; Kara Morgan, William Peace; Cortney Brown, Piedmont.

Women's Track Rookie of the Week

Allie Feltus, Piedmont - The freshman from Natchez, Mississippi competed at the Southern Wesleyan Susan Rouse Invitational last week in two events. In the discus, Feltus placed first out of 23 with a throw of 37.24 meters while in the hammer, Feltus finished tenth out of 19 with a throw of 32.50 meters. Also Nominated: Tatyana Jordan, Methodist; Elizabeth Jones, Pfeiffer; Jae Woods, Covenant; Christian Van Norden, N.C. Wesleyan; Kara Morgan, William Peace.
