Huntingdon beats Centenary in Game 3 of series

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon baseball team closed out a three-game series against Centenary with an 8-5 win in the final game on Sunday.  

The Hawks fell behind 4-0 in the second inning but rallied with three runs in the third inning, tied the game in the fourth inning and took the lead for good in the sixth inning.

Trailing 4-0 in the third inning, Huntingdon used a three-run home run by Colin Whibbs to make it a one-run game. The Hawks tied the game in the fourth inning when Dawson Kuba drove in Hall Billings.

Centenary went ahead 5-4 in the fifth inning before the Hawks took the lead for good in the sixth inning on RBIs by Nick Swisher and Kuba. Ryan Greene and Wes Powell drove in the Hawks' final two runs.

Whibbs finished with three RBIs and a run and Billings was 2-for-3 with three runs and three stolen bases. Kuba had two RBIs and Colton Clark scored two runs. Powell had one RBI and one run, Greene and Swisher each had one RBI, Jacob Pitts scored one run and Andrew Knight had two hits.

Patrick Sawyer (1-1) earned the win in 5 1/3 innings of relief and Clark recorded the save in two innings.
