Hawks take Game 2 from Piedmont

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon baseball team bounced back to beat Piedmont 8-3 on Friday in the second game of a three-game conference series.

Piedmont took the first game 8-6 on Thursday. The Hawks and Lions will wrap up the series on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Huntingdon took control early on Friday, scoring six runs in the first three innings and building an 8-2 lead in the fifth inning. With an early lead, pitcher Wallace Henry and the defense did the rest.

Henry (2-3) pitched a complete game, striking out 10, walking two and allowing nine hits, one earned run and three total runs in nine innings. It was the first complete game of the season for the Hawks.

Andrew Knight, Colin Whibbs and Ryan Greene combined for eight of Huntingdon's 13 hits, four RBIs and five runs. Knight was 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and two doubles, Whibbs was 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI and Greene was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run and a double.

Cullen Stafford had one RBI and one run, Dawson Kuba and Ryan Meadows each had one RBI and Colton Clark and Wes Powell each scored one run.
