Huntingdon handles MUW in final home game of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team picked up an 11-3 win over Mississippi College for Women on Tuesday in the Hawks' final home game of the season.

With two runs in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning, Huntingdon took control with an 8-1 lead. Wes Powell's three-run home run highlighted the third inning. Dawson Kuba's two-run triple closed the scoring in the eighth inning.

Powell and Kuba each finished with two hits and three RBIs. Powell also had two runs. Nick Swisher was 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI, Hall Billings was 3-for-5 with a run and Colin Whibbs scored three runs and had one RBI. Andrew Knight had one RBI and one run, Colton Clark had one RBI and Adams Bragg scored one run.

The Hawks used six pitchers in the game. The six combined for three strikeouts, three walks, three runs allowed and 12 hits given up. Freshman Gavin Gomez (1-0) picked up the win.

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play a three-game conference series at Brevard. Game 1 is set for 2 p.m. (Central) on Friday.
