Hawks Defeat MSJ in Home Opener

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Baseball (2-2) defeated Mount St. Joseph (0-1), 7-4, on day 1 of the Firehouse Classic.

Mount St. Joseph took an early 2-0 lead with 2 RBI singles but Andrew Knight's leadoff home run in the bottom of the first brought the Hawks within 1. The Lions added 2 more runs in the second inning but the Hawks answered in their half of the inning. Hall Billings had a 2 run single to left and Andrew Knight's 2nd home run of the game, a 2-run home run, gave the Hawks a 5-4 lead. Cade Morgan added 2 more runs for the Hawks in the 7th inning with an 2 run infield single. 

Andrew Knight led the Hawks offense, going 3-5 with 2 homeruns, including a leadoff home run. Daniel Patton was 2-3 while Cade Morgan and Hall Billings were both 2-4.

Seth Killam collected the win, pitching 5 innings and allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts. 
The Hawks are back in action at home tomorrow at 3:30 PM CST when they take on Virginia Wesleyan in Day 2 of the Firehouse Classic.
