Hawks Split Doubleheader against Emory

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Baseball split a doubleheader with Emory, dropping the first game, 7-6, and taking the second game,11-0.

Game 1:

The Hawks fell 7-6 in game 1. 

Daniel Patton's RBI single to left in the 3rd inning gave the Hawks a  2-0 lead. Colin Whibbs had a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0. Daniel Phillips had an RBI single to center field to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead until the 5th inning. 

Emory added 2 runs in the 5th before a 5-run 6th inning gave them a 7-4 lead. In the 6th inning, Daniel Phillips scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-5. 

In the 8th inning, Innes Mackay struck out but reached on an error by the catcher, bringing in Colin Whibbs to bring the Hawks within 1. The Hawks were unable to make the comeback in the 9th inning.

Seth Killam suffered his first loss of the season after pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 7 runs on 12 hits with 5 strikeouts. 

Daniel Phillips was 2-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run. Hall Billings was 2-4 with a run. The Hawks totaled 7 hits.

Game 2:

The Hawks took game 2, 11-0.

In the first inning, Daniel Patton's RBI double gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead. Colin Whibbs singled and advanced on an error, scoring Patton to make it 2-0. Noah Phillips had an RBI groundout to second to make it 3-0. Colin Whibbs had an RBI single to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead. 

In the bottom of the 5th, Andrew Knight walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-0. Daniel Patton grounded out to 1st but brought in the Hawks' 6th run of the game. 

Cade Morgan's RBI double in the bottom of the 6th made it 9-0. Ryan Greene grounded out to 2nd but brought in Cade Morgan to make it 10-0. Andrew Knight had an RBI groundout to cap off a 5-run 6th inning and make it 11-0.

Eddie Patterson earned his second win of the season, pitching 5 innings and allowing 0 runs on 3 hits with 8 strikeouts. 

The Hawks finish the series against Emory tomorrow, February 27th. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM CST.
