Hawks Take Down Oglethorpe in Rematch

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Baseball defeated Oglethorpe, 9-4. The Hawks are now 12-7 overall. 

Oglethorpe took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single. In the third inning, the Hawks answered back with an RBI double from Daniel Patton tying the game. Colin Whibbs gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead with an RBI single. Cullen Stafford had a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 3-1.

Oglethorpe tied the game at 3 in the top of the 6th with a 2 RBI single. Cullen Stafford gave the Hawks a 4-3 lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th. Daniel Phillips had an RBI single to make it 5-3. Cade Morgan had a sacrifice fly to left field to give the Hawks a 6-3 lead.

In the 8th inning, Oglethorpe added a run on a fly ball and an error to come within 2. Daniel Phillips hit a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 8th to make it 9-4.

Chris Williams earned the win, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing 1 run on 2 hits with 3 strikeouts. Daniel Patton was 2-5 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. Cullen Stafford was 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Daniel Phillips was 2-3 with 1 run, 4 RBI, and a walk with a 3-run homerun.

The Hawks travel to Berea for a 3-game series on March 26-27. The doubleheader on Saturday, March 26th begins at 12:00 and 3:00 PM CST.
