Hawks Run-Rule Berea in Game 1 of Series

Berea, Ky.-Huntingdon Baseball defeated Berea, 25-7.

The Hawks offense started fast in the second inning, starting with a 2-RBI single by Daniel Patton. Colton Clark reached on a fielder's choice to make it 3-0. Cullen Stafford's 2-RBI single made it 5-0. Noah Phillips tripled with the bases loaded to give the Hawks an 8-0 lead.

Berea added a run in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single but the Hawks made it 9-1 in the top of the third with an RBI single by Andrew Knight

Knight had a sacrifice fly in the 4th inning to extend the lead to 10-1. Noah Phillips had a single in the 5th that resulted in Colin Whibbs scoring on an error, making it 11-1. Cade Morgan had a 2-RBI double to make it 13-1. Cullen Stafford's sacrifice fly gave the Hawks a 14-1 lead in the 6th inning. Noah Phillips had an RBI single to extend the lead to 15-1.

Berea added 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th with a 2-run homerun and RBI groundout, making it 15-4.

The Hawks added 10 runs in the 7th inning, starting with an RBI single by Colton Clark. Colin Whibbs had an RBI double to make it 17-4. Daniel Phillips' RBI single made it 18-4 followed by Noah Phillips' RBI single to make it 19-4. Daniel Patton was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 20-4. Dawson Kuba walked with the bases loaded followed by Andrew Knight reaching on an error in center field to clear the bases, extending the lead to 24-4. Clark's RBI single made it 25-5.

Berea added 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th but the Hawks secured the 25-7 win.

Seth Killam earned the win, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with 9 strikeouts. Noah Phillips was 5-6 with 5 RBI and 3 runs. Cullen Stafford was 2-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs. Daniel Patton was 3-4 with 3 RBI and 4 runs. 

The Hawks take on Berea tomorrow, March 27th, in two 7-inning games starting at 12:00 PM CST.
