Hawks Comeback Falls Short at Maryville

Maryville, Tn.-Huntingdon Baseball fell to Maryville, 10-8, game 3 of the series.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Daniel Phillips reached on an error and brought in a run. Maryville added a run in the first, 2 runs in the second, and a solo homerun in the fourth inning made it 4-1. The Scots added 3 more runs in the fifth inning and 1 in the sixth to take an 8-1 lead. 

In the 7th inning, Daniel Phillips had an RBI single to make it 8-2. Noah Phillips' RBI single made it 8-3. Maryville added 2 more runs in the 7th inning to take a 10-3 lead.

The Hawks' rally in the 9th inning started with an RBI single by Noah Phillips, making it 10-4. Innes Mackay had a 2-RBI single, putting the Hawks within 4. Ryan Greene had an RBI groundout to make it 10-7. Daniel Patton scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-8 but the Hawks rally fell short of the comeback. 

Hall Billings suffered the loss, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing 7 runs on 10 hits with 3 strikeouts. Daniel Phillips was 2-4 with 1 run, 1 RBI, and 1 walk. Innes Mackay was 1-2 with 1 run and 2 RBI. The Hawks totaled 10 hits.

The Hawks travel to Hampden-Sydney on Saturday and Sunday, April 9th and 10th. The doubleheader on Saturday starts at 11:00 AM CST.
