Hawks Sweep Doubleheader Against Brevard

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Baseball defeated Brevard, 3-0 and 17-11.

Game 1:

The Hawks won game 1, 3-0. 

In the 7th inning, Cullen Stafford's RBI single gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Cade Morgan extended the lead with an RBI single, making it 2-0. In the bottom of the 8th, Andrew Knight hit a solo homerun to make it 3-0.

Eddie Patterson pitched a complete game and earned his 8th win of the season, allowing no runs on 2 hits with 5 strikeouts. Andrew Knight was 2-4 with 1 run, 1 RBI, and 1 walk, including a solo homerun in the 8th. Noah Phillips was 2-4 with 1 run. The Hawks totaled 11 hits and 6 walks. 

Game 2:

The Hawks won game 2, 17-11.

Brevard took an early lead with an RBI single in the first inning and an RBI single in the second inning. In the bottom of the second, Cade Morgan had an RBI single to make it 2-1. Daniel Phillips' RBI triple in the third inning tied the game at 2. Noah Phillips had an RBI single to center field and gave the Hawks a 3-2 lead. Morgan's RBI single made it 4-2. 

Brevard added a run in the top of the fourth from a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the fourth, Noah Phillips had a 3-run homerun, extending the Hawks lead to 7-3. Daniel Patton had a 2-run homerun to make it 9-3. 

The Tornadoes added 3 runs in the 6th inning, making it 9-6. Noah Phillips' RBI single in the bottom of the 6th extended the Hawks' lead to 10-6. Cullen Stafford stole second and Noah Phillips scored on the throw, making it 11-6. 

Brevard added 3 runs in the 7th with a solo homerun and RBI single, with the Hawks lead at 11-9. Colin Whibbs had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th to make it 12-9. Daniel Phillips had a 2-RBI triple to extend the lead to 14-9. Noah Phillips' sacrifice fly made it 15-9.

In the 8th inning, Whibbs' RBI single gave the Hawks a 16-9 lead. Daniel Phillips doubled in the 8th inning and extended the lead to 17-9. Brevard added 2 runs in the top of the 9th but the Hawks held on for the win.

Hall Billings earned his 3rd win of the season, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 6 runs on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts. Daniel Phillips was 4-5 with 4 runs and 4 RBI. Noah Phillips was 3-5 with 6 RBI and 3 runs. Cullen Stafford was 3-5 with 2 runs. Cade Morgan was 3-5 with 2 runs The Hawks totaled 19 hits, including homeruns from Noah Phillips and Daniel Patton.

The final game of the series against Brevard is tomorrow, April 16th. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM CST.
