Demorest, Ga.-Huntingdon Baseball defeated Piedmont, 17-8.
Colin Whibbs gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single. Noah Phillips' RBI double made it 2-0. Piedmont added a run in the bottom of the first with a solo homerun and added 3 runs in the 5th inning to take a 4-2 lead.
Noah Phillips started a 10-run 6th inning with an RBI groundout to bring in a run making it 4-3. Daniel Patton tied the game when he reached on a fielder's choice and a run scored on an error. Cade Morgan had a 2-RBI single to give the Hawks a 6-4 lead. Colton Clark's RBI single made it 7-4. Colin Whibbs had a 2-RBI double to make it 9-4. Noah Phillips had an RBI single followed by Cullen Stafford's RBI single to make it 11-4. An RBI single by Daniel Patton made it 12-4. Piedmont added 4 runs in the 6th inning with an RBI double, a bases loaded balk, a walk, and a sacrifice fly to make it 12-8.
In the 7th inning, Whibbs had an RBI single to make it 13-8. Cade Morgan's RBI single in the 8th inning extended the lead to 14-8. Ryan Greene reached on an error and brought in the Hawks' 15th run. In the 8th inning, Whibbs had a 2-RBI single to secure the 17-8 win.
Hall Billings earned the win, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 8 strikeouts. Colin Whibbs was 6-6 with 3 runs and 6 RBI. Daniel Phillips was 4-6 with 2 runs. Colton Clark was 3-6 with 3 runs and 1 RBI. Noah Phillips was 2-6 with 1 run and 3 RBI. The Hawks totaled 23 hits.
