Rocky Mount, NC.-Huntingdon Baseball defeated Piedmont, 9-1.
Cade Morgan reached on an error in the 2nd inning and scored the Hawks' first run. Hall Billings also reached on an error to make it 2-0. Colton Clark reached on a fielder's choice to score the Hawks' third run.
In the third inning, Noah Phillips had an RBI groundout to make it 4-0. Piedmont scored their only run in the 6th inning off of an RBI double. In the 7th inning, Colin Whibbs reached on an error and brought in a run to make it 5-1. Andrew Knight scored on a wild pitch to give the Hawks a 6-1 lead. Cullen Stafford's sacrifice fly made it 7-1. Stafford's 2-RBI single in the 9th inning made it 9-1.
Eddie Patterson earned the win, pitching a complete game and allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 5 strikeouts. Andrew Knight was 2-5 with a run. Colton Clark was 1-3 with 1 run, 1 RBI, and 1 walk. Cullen Stafford was 2-4 with 3 RBI.
The Hawks will face Pfeiffer tomorrow, May 7th, in a rematch starting at 9:00 AM CST.
