Hawks Fly Past Oglethorpe

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks, now 4-1 overall defeated the Petrels of Oglethorpe with a final score of 8-6.

Tucker Duke earns his first save of the season as he helps lift the Hawks past the Petrels.

Scoring in the bottom of the first, second, and third innings, the Hawks found themselves sitting with a 5-0 lead on Oglethorpe. Noah Phillips reached on an error that scored Jabez Sampson and Daniel Phillips for Huntingdon's first two runs. The next two came from a Colin Whibbs single where Sampson scored again, and Jordan Raley crossed the plate. Cade Morgan brought the Hawks their fifth run when he was batted in by John Hale.

Oglethorpe tried to regain ground in the fourth with a triple to bring a runner and a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to three (5-2). The Hawks answered those runs with three of their own in the bottom of the fourth when Noah Phillips brought in Sampson for his third run of the night. Cade Morgan singled to bring in D. Phillips and Innes Mackay followed that single to bring in Morgan (8-2).

The Petrels scored one in the fifth to try and begin their comeback. With a two run homerun they found themselves down three at the top of the sixth inning (8-5). That is when Tucker Duke came to the mound to close out the game for the Hawks as he saw 13 batters and struck out sixth of them to allow one more run for the Petrels and boost the Hawks to their fourth win this season.
