Hawks Top Maryville in Game Two

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon (15-8 overall, 4-3 CCS) defeated Maryville (14-7 overall, 0-5 CCS) in game two of the weekend series, 5-4.

With Hall Billings starting on the mound for the Hawks, he held off the Scots until the top of the third inning with a single to short stop to score the first run of the game (1-0). Huntingdon answered back with a single from Christian Lasecki and a triple from Daniel Phillips to bring in Lasecki and tie the game at one. D. Phillips soon found himself crossing the plate when Jabez Sampson gave the Hawks the lead with an RBI single to end the third inning (2-1).

In the fifth inning, the Hawks and Scots again traded runs, but Huntingdon did not stop with one. A double from Matthew Robinson began the three-run inning for the Hawks as he drove in D. Phillips. The Scots wild pitch gave Huntingdon their next run and the final came from a Cade Morgan single to increase the lead to 5-2.

Maryville's two run single in the eighth brought Parker Szush to the mound for the Hawks where he earned his first save of the season striking out two batters and closing out the game for Huntingdon.
