Hawks Fall to Piedmont in Game Two

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon (21-10 overall, 7-5 CCS) fell to Piedmont (20-14 overall, 6-7 CCS) in game two 10-6.

With Michael Driver beginning the game on the mound for the Hawks, the scoring did not begin until the top of the sixth inning. A one run single from the Lions gave them the lead as Tucker Duke came in to relieve Driver after only allowing three hits and one run.

In the top of the 8th, Piedmont's nine run inning off six hits and two pitching changes left the Hawks down 10-0 as they headed back to the plate.

Huntingdon was finally able to connect and begin scoring runs to cut the lead to five. After a Hall Billings single, Daniel Phillips tripled to score Billings and D. Phillips crossed the plate after Innes Mackay's RBI. With one out, two singles from Colin Whibbs and Matthew Robinson put two on base as Daniel Patton also hit a single that scored Whibbs (10-3). The Hawks final two runs came from two more singles from Cade Morgan and Noah Phillips.

The Hawks held the Lions to no more runs as they looked to comeback in the bottom of the ninth. But a single RBI from Whibbs was the only other run Huntingdon added to the board as they fell in game two.
