Baseball Claims Series Against Piedmont on Senior Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon (22-10 overall, 8-5 CCS) defeated Piedmont (20-15 overall, 6-8 CCS) in the final game of the series, 8-6.

The Hawks honored seniors Hall Billings, Colin Whibbs, Dawson Kuba, Eddie Patterson, and Innes Mackay before today's matchup.

Senior, Billings earned his start on the mound for the Hawks and held the Lions scoreless until the fourth inning.

It was Huntingdon who got on the board first after consecutive Hawks were hit by pitch, Daniel Phillips singled to left field to score Kuba. After Piedmont's first run in the fourth the Hawks responded with a two run fourth inning of their own.

Singles from Noah Phillips and Mackay brought D. Phillips to the plate to send in his brother (2-1). Cade Morgan did the same and sent Mackay across the plate for a two-run lead (3-1).

A Lions quick run in the fifth brought the game back within one run. Again, the Hawks responded in the bottom of the inning with leadoff batter Daniel Patton's homerun. Christian Lasecki earned his first RBI of the game and the Hawks shot back up by two (4-2).

Two unanswered runs in the sixth by Piedmont brought Seth Killam to the mound where he earned his second save this season.

Three runs off three hits late in the eighth inning separated the Hawks from the Lions and secured the game. An RBI single from Morgan and a sacrifice fly by N. Phillips pushed the game to the final inning up 8-4. Piedmont hit a two-run single before the close of the game but it was the Hawks who came out on top for senior day.
