Hawks Fall in First Round of CCS Tournament

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Hawks (23-13 overall), fell to the Lions of Piedmont (23-16 overall) 6-4.

The game was led by the Lions beginning in the first inning. After ten hits across seven innings, Piedmont was up 6-0 with Hall Billings on the mound for the Hawks.

A hit by pitch and a walk led to the Hawks first run of the night in the seventh inning as Colin Whibbs singled through the left side to send in Daniel Phillips. Now down by five runs, Huntingdon's Daniel Patton followed with his own single to score a run and Hawks advanced on a wild pitch to score their third run of the game. A sacrifice fly from Noah Phillips sent Patton across the plate to leave Huntingdon down by 2 (6-4) before going into the eighth inning.

Seth Killam headed to the mound for the final innings and held the Lions to one hit and no runs. However, the Hawks were not able to tally any runs either as they fell in the first round of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament.
