Hawks CCS Tournament Run Ends Against Piedmont

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Hawks (25-14 overall) fell to Piedmont University (25-17 overall) in the Collegiate Conference of the South semi-final game 8-5.

Lead off hitter, Daniel Phillips singled through the left side to begin the game and shortly after Matthew Robinson's sacrifice fly scored D. Phillips as the Hawks took an early lead.

Seth Killam earned the start on the mound for Huntingdon and in the bottom of the first, the Lions scored four runs off four hits to go up 4-1.

In the third, Cade Morgan walked, and Colin Whibbs tabbed the Hawks second run as he sent in Morgan with a single (4-2). After another Piedmont run in the sixth, the Hawks brought Sam Thompkins in relief for Killam but a three run sixth inning for the Lions summoned Tucker Duke to finish the game.

In the top of the seventh, Huntingdon looked to regain ground. Hall Billings singled to get on and Christian Lasecki batted him in on a double to cut the lead to 8-3. With the bases loaded after two walks, a single and fielder's choice scored the final Hawks runs of the game (8-5).
