Sewanee Takes Down The Hawks

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- Huntingdon baseball (5-3 overall) fell to the Sewanee Tigers 8-0 in the final game of the Firehouse Classic. An offensive explosion from the Tigers in the fourth inning put the Hawks behind and they could not recover.

Highlights

• After three scoreless innings with a total of five hits being shared between the two teams, Sewanee got on the board with a double to right field bringing home two runners.

• On the following at-bat, Sewanee hit a three-run home run to extend their lead to 5-0 with no outs

• Another double brought home a Tiger on base to make the score 6-0

• A sacrifice groundout brought home a 7th Sewanee run in

• Seth Killam struck a batter out to end the fourth inning down 7-0

• In the fifth inning, the Tigers earned another run off a player hit by a pitch to bring the score to 8-0

• The Hawks did not allow another hit following the fifth inning, but a lack of offensive production resulted in a 8-0 loss

On the mound

• #45 JB Landrum earned the start for the Hawks, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 6 batters

• #10 Seth Killam followed Landrum, allowing 4 runs on three hits with one strikeout

• #14 Gavin Gomez replaced Killam, allowing one hit and striking out two batters

• #31 Waylon Farr came in behind Gomez, not allowing any hits and striking out one batter

• #22 Evan Clark subbed in in the 8th inning, striking out two batters and not allowing any hits

• #5 Sam Tompkins closed the game for Huntingdon, striking out two batters to end the game
