BSC Rallies To Take Down The Hawks

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- Huntingdon baseball (5-4 overall) fell to the Panthers of Birmingham Southern College (6-1 overall) in a road contest 14-4. The Hawks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Panthers found their rhythm in the fourth inning to take the victory in 8 innings.

Highlights

• Matthew Robinson got the Hawks on the board first with a single shot home run in the top of the second inning

• Jordan Raley followed Robinson with a single, bringing home Byron McClain to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead

• Raley made his way home following a single from Jabez Sampson to take 3-0 lead going into the next inning

• Cade Morgan gave the Hawks their fourth run of the day in the third inning after Christian Lasecki was walked with the bases loaded

• The Panthers got on the board in the third inning with a single rbi

• The Panthers earned two more runs in the fourth inning with a single bringing in two batters, cutting the Huntingdon lead to 4-3

• Birmingham Southern took the lead 6-4 with a 3 run homer at the following at bat

• The Panthers earned another run in the fifth inning 

• A two run home run in the 7th inning pushed the BSC lead to 9-4

• 5 unanswered runs in the eighth inning gave the Panthers a 14-4 victory

On the mound

• Seth Killam earned the start for the Hawks, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts

• Michael Driver followed Killiam on the mound, also allowing 3 runs on 3 hits

• Jackson Joiner took over for Driver, allowing 1 run on two hits

• Gavin Gomez replaced Joiner, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits

• Waylon Farr subbed in for Gomez, allowing 4 runs on 3 hits

• Evan Clark closed the game for Huntingdon, not allowing any hits and giving up 1 run

The Hawks look to respond against Middlebury at home on March 2nd. Gametime is scheduled for 1:00 PM CT.
