Rocket League Qualifies For Two Championship Matches

In NECC Emergents Southeast, the #2 seed Hawks has a 8-1 record (6-1 RS, 2-0 PS) after winning the regular season title for their division and wins over #7 East Carolina and #6 Embry Riddle to set them up for a rematch against #4 University of Cumberlands 8-1 (6-1 RS, 2-0 PS), who they beat to end regular season, 3-1.

 

In ECAC Rivals, the #2 seed Hawks are 10-0 (7-0 RS, 3-0 PS) after winning their regular season division title and playoff wins over #15 Moravian, #7 Husson, and last night, undefeated #3 SUNY Poly. This lines them up for a match-up against #1 George Fox who are 10-0 (7-0 RS, 3-0 PS).

 

This puts the team in familiar territory after having an undefeated regular season and division title in NECC Emergents Southeast last semester, before falling in finals to Kennesaw State in game 7, which the team is looking to rebound from in these upcoming match-ups.

 

Esports Assistant Coach and Rocket League Coach, Blake Phillips, had this to say about the team: 

 

"I'm extremely proud of these guys for making another run to the NECC Finals as well as ECAC finals. They lost a really good player from last semester and STILL made a run back to the Finals. Their abilities to adapt and stay calm through tense moments have impressed me all throughout this season. They compete with confidence and swagger while remaining very receptive to my input.

That mentality is what has us back in the Finals this semester and I can't wait to see the show Huntingdon Rocket League will put on. Put us in a best of 7 against anybody, I don't care who it is or what the stakes are, and I like our odds."

 

Regardless of outcome, they will have a shot at NECC Nationals over the coming weeks as well.
