Hawks Drop Third in a Row to BSC

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Football (0-2) drops third in a row to in-state rival Birmingham Southern College.

After getting ahead early with a field goal by Will Edwards, the Hawks allowed the Panthers to rush for a 17-yard touchdown. Troy Garner put Huntingdon ahead just before the half, rushing 2 yards for a touchdown. The Hawks took a 9-7 lead into the second half.

BSC came out strong in the second half and the Hawks were never able to recover after losing the lead early in the 3rd quarter.

"We played really hard. We just self-destructed so badly in the third quarter," Head Coach Mike Turk said. "The harder we tried, the worse it got."

The Hawks allowed 4 fumbles and an interception that allowed the Panthers to score 3 touchdowns.

"I'm disappointed and hurt for our guys," Turk said. "What matters now is how we move forward."

"We have to come to work every day [after this], take it one day at a time, we can't leave a single day unanswered," Junior captain Casey Peppers said.

The Hawks are back in action on September 25, taking on Brevard College at 12:00 PM CST in North Carolina.
