Hawks Take Down Brevard in Conference Opener

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse defeated Brevard, 18-7, to open USA South Conference play.

Brevard took a 1-0 lead at 5:37 of the first quarter but Caden Bacz tied it up at 3:39 Ian Bruggeman's first goal of the game at 1:47 made it 2-1. Brevard tied the game with 17 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Hawks added 7 goals in the second quarter to take a 9-2 lead. Ian Bruggeman scored at 10:43 with an assist by Paul Gordon. Alexander Hero made it 4-2 at 10:16. Bacz added 2 more goals at 10:02 and 9:08. Kole Andres scored back-to-back goals at 5:50 and 2:39 to make it 8-2. Bacz added another goal with 56 seconds left in the half.

In the third quarter, Paul Gordon made it 10-2 with an assist from Bruggeman at 13:33. Brayden Puckett scored at 11:30 to make it 11-2. Brevard added a goal just 13 seconds after Puckett's goal. Andres' second goal of the game at 6:38 made it 12-3. Brevard added 3 goals at 5:32, 3:57, and 3:29 to make it 12-6. Paul Gordon closed out the third quarter with a goal at 1:25 to make it 13-6.

Brayden Puckett made it 14-6 at 12:37 of the fourth quarter. Bruggeman's third goal of the game at 11:45 made it 15-6. Brevard made it 15-7 at 10:26. Gordon scored at 7:00 in the fourth quarter to make it 16-7. Bruggeman's fourth goal of the game at 4:44 made it 17-7. Ryan Campion scored at 4:34 to make it 18-7.

Ian Bruggeman totaled 4 goals on 9 shots with 2 assists. Paul Gordon had 3 goals on 12 shots. Caden Bacz had 4 goals on 10 shots while Ryan Campion had 1 goal on 8 shots with 4 ground balls. Jesse 'Blake' Thomas made 6 saves on 13 shots. Tyler Daigle made 1 save on 1 shot.

The Hawks are back home against LaGrange on Wednesday, March 23rd. Game time is set for 7:00 PM CST.
