Hawks Fall Short Against Centenary

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse was defeated by Centenary, 16-12.

Ian Bruggeman gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead at 12:39 of the first quarter but Centenary tied the game at 11:02. Ryan Campion gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead at 10:32 followed by an unassisted goal from Paul Gordon at 9:05. Gordon's second goal of the game at 6:35 made it 4-1. Bruggeman's second goal of the game at 5:20 made it 5-1. Centenary added a goal at 4:36, making it 5-2. Brayden Puckett scored at 2:39 to make it 6-2 and Paul Gordon closed out the first quarter with a goal at 1:45, assisted by Bruggeman, to give the Hawks a 7-2 lead.

Centenary scored 5 straight goals in the second quarter to tie the game at 7. Bruggeman added a goal at 7:50 to make it 8-7 but Centenary added 2 goals before half time to take a 9-8 lead.

In the third quarter, Centenary added 2 goals to take an 11-8 lead. Paul Gordon scored at 7:28 with an assist from Brayden Puckett to make it 11-9. Bruggeman's 4th goal of the season made it 11-10. Centenary took a 12-10 lead at 2:51 but Kole Andres added a goal with 1 minute left in the quarter to make it 12-11.

Centenary added 2 goals to start the fourth quarter, taking a 14-11 lead. Paul Gordon scored at 10:36, his 5th of the game, to make it 14-12. Centenary added 2 more goals in the fourth quarter to secure the 16-12 lead.

Paul Gordon had 5 goals on 6 shots; Ian Bruggeman had 4 goals on 12 shots with 2 ground balls. Jesse 'Blake' Thomas made 11 saves on 21 shots. The Hawks were 16-21 on clear attempts and totaled 42 shots.

The Hawks travel to William Peace on Saturday, April 16th. Game time is set for 12:00 PM CST.
