Hawks Suffer Overtime Loss at Averett

Danville, Va.-Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse lost to Averett, 14-13, in overtime. 

The Hawks scored 2 goals in the first quarter, by Caden Bacz at 11:57 with an assist from Ryan Campion, and Ryan Campion at 3:20. In the second quarter, Bacz made it 3-0 at 12:52 with an assist from Campion. 

Ian Bruggeman scored his first goal of the game at 10:58 of the second quarter, making it 4-0. Averett scored their first goal of the game at 5:27 to make it 4-1. Bruggeman added 3 straight unassisted goals to end the second quarter with the Hawks taking a 7-1 lead into halftime. 

Another goal by Bruggeman at 13:58 made it 8-1. A goal by Averett just 20 seconds later made it 8-2. Ryan Campion and Paul Gordon made it 10-2 at 9:08 and 7:33, respectively. A goal by Averett at 5:57 made it 10-3 but Kole Andres extended the Hawks lead at 4:51. 3 straight goals by Averett made it 11-6. A goal by Andres at 1:01 made it 12-6 with an assist from Shane Steffey. Averett closed out the third quarter with a goal, making it 12-7.

Averett scored 5 straight goals to start the fourth quarter to tie the game at 12. Ryan Campion gave the Hawks a 13-12 lead at 1:22 but Averett tied the game again with 39 seconds left. Averett won the game at 3:01 of overtime, 14-13. 

Tyler Daigle made 13 saves on 27 shots. Ian Bruggeman had 5 goals on 11 shots with 3 ground balls. Ryan Campion had 3 goals and 2 assists on 7 shots with 4 ground balls. Caden Bacz had 2 goals on 7 shots. Kole Andres had 2 goals on 3 shots with 2 ground balls. The Hawks were 13-16 on clear attempts with 36 ground balls. 

The Hawks are back in action at home on Saturday, April 30th, when they take on Methodist for Senior Day. Game time is set for 1:00 PM CST.
