Hawks Sweep MSJ, Millsaps

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Softball defeated MSJ, 8-0, and Millsaps, 7-0. The Hawks improve to 9-3 overall.

Game 1 vs. MSJ:

The Hawks defeated MSJ 8-0 in 5 innings. 

In the first inning, Annie Nolan walked and Brooke Stefankiewicz scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Bailey Murphy had an RBI single to make it 2-0. In the second inning, Nolan had an RBI single to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead. Anna Vaughn had an RBI double to center to make it 5-0. Emily Nieuwstraten tripled to center, scoring 2 runs for the Hawks. Bailey Murphy had an RBI double to left field to make it 8-0.

Crimson Wells earned the win, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing no runs on 2 hits with a strikeout. Stefankiewicz was 2-3 with 2 runs while Nieuwstraten was 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Annie Nolan was 1-2 with a run, 2 RBI, and a walk. Bailey Murphy was 2-3 with 2 RBI.

Game 2 vs Millsaps:

The Hawks defeated Millsaps, 7-0. 

Anna Vaughn's RBI double in the bottom of the third gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Emma Spurlin had an RBI single in the bottom of the 4th to make it 4-0. 

Natalie Ritchey reached on an error by the second baseman, bringing in Annie Nolan to make it 5-0 in the bottom of the 5th. Emma Spurlin's RBI single to center made it 6-0. Kailey Hicks was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 7-0.

Katelyn Holcombe earned the win, pitching a complete game and allowing no runs on 4 hits. Anna Vaughn was 3-4 with 1 run and 2 RBI. Emma Spurlin was 2-3 with 3 RBI.

The Hawks are back in action at home against Mississippi University for Women on Saturday, March 5th. Games are set for 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
