Hawks Run-Rule MUW in Doubleheader

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Softball swept the doubleheader against Mississippi University for Women.

Game 1:

The Hawks run-ruled MUW, 8-0, in 6 innings. 

Bailey Murphy's RBI double to left field in the first inning gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead. Natalie Ritchey's RBI bunt made it 4-0. 

In the 4th inning, Miranda Treadway had an RBI single to shortstop to bring in Bailey Murphy. Brooke Stefankiewicz reached on an error by the shortstop but brought in Natalie Ritchey to make it 6-0. Alexis Morris had an RBI single to center field in the 6th inning to make it 8-0.

Katelyn Holcombe earned her 5th win of the season, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing no runs on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. The Hawks collected 13 total hits.

Game 2:

The Hawks run-ruled MUW, 8-0, in 5 innings.

Brooke Stefankiewicz scored on a wild pitch in the first inning. Anna Vaughn's RBI single to center field made it 2-0 in the first inning. 

In the 4th inning, Hailey League's RBI double to left field made it 4-0. Emily Nieuwstraten walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-0. Annie Nolan doubled to right field, bringing in 2 runs. Anna Vaughn's RBI single to left field made it 8-0 to end the game.

Crimson Wells earned her 4th win of the season, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing no runs on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts.

The Hawks are back in action at home on Wednesday, March 9th, in a doubleheader against Manhattanville. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 PM CST.
