Hawks Sweep Doubleheader against LaGrange

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Softball swept the doubleheader against LaGrange, 6-5 and 11-0.

Game 1:

Huntingdon won game 1, 6-5, with a walkoff single in the bottom of the 7th.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI groundout by Emily Nieuwstraten. Miranda Treadway had an RBI groundout to make it 2-0. Annie Nolan's RBI single brought in the Hawks' third run.

LaGrange added 2 runs in the third inning and 2 runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead. A solo homerun in the 5th gave the Panthers a 5-3 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Emma Bauer had an RBI single to make it 5-4. Nieuwstraten tied the game with an RBI bunt single. Alexis Morris had an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th, walking off the game for the Hawks.

Holly Sharp earned her 3rd win of the season, pitching 4 innings and allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 2 strikeouts. Natalie Ritchey was 2-2 with 1 run. Miranda Treadway was 2-4 with 1 RBI. 

Game 2:

The Hawks run-ruled LaGrange, 11-0, in 5 innings. 

Miranda Treadway had an RBI single to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Annie Nolan's sacrifice fly made it 2-0 followed by a fielder's choice from Hannah Vines made it 3-0. Bailey Murphy had a 3-RBI double to extend the lead to 6-0. 

In the 4th inning, Annie Nolan had her second sacrifice fly of the game to make it 7-0. Hannah Vines walked with the bases loaded, making it 8-0. Emma Bauer also walked with the bases loaded to make it 9-0. Bailey Murphy extended the lead to 10-0 with an RBI single. A wild pitch brought in the 11th run and secured the run-rule.

Katelyn Holcombe earned the win and pitched 5.0 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits. Anna Vaughn was 2-2 with 1 run. Bailey Murphy was 2-3 with 4 RBI. 

The Hawks travel to Wesleyan on Friday, April 15th. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM CST.
