Hawks Win Doubleheader at Agnes Scott

Decatur, Ga.-Huntingdon Softball defeated Agnes Scott, 7-4 in game 1, and 2-0 in game 2.

Game 1:

The Hawks won game 1, 7-4.

Emily Nieuwstraten had a sacrifice fly in the first inning to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Agnes Scott tied the game in the third inning with an RBI double and added 3 more runs to take a 4-1 lead.

In the 5th inning, Anna Vaughn had a 2-RBI double to make it 4-3. Annie Nolan doubled to left field and brought in the tying run. Lydia Lewis' RBI single made it 5-4. Bailey Murphy grounded out to second base but brought in a run, making it 6-4. In the 7th inning, Murphy's RBI single made it 7-4.

Crimson Wells earned the win, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. Holly Sharp earned the save, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing no runs on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts. Brooke Stefankiewicz was 3-5 with 2 runs. Anna Vaughn was 2-4 with 2 RBI and 1 run. Lydia Lewis was 3-3 with 1 RBI. Annie Nolan was 1-2 with 2 runs, 1 RBI, and 2 walks.

Game 2:

The Hawks won game 2, 2-0.

Emily Nieuwstraten's RBI double in the 1st inning gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Anna Vaughn grounded out in the 4th inning but brought in the Hawks' second run of the game.

Katelyn Holcombe pitched a complete game, allowing no runs on 2 hits with 3 strikeouts. Miranda Treadway was 2-2 with 2 runs scored and 1 walk. Anna Vaughn was 1-3 with 1 RBI. The Hawks totaled 6 hits.

The Hawks travel to Maryville on Saturday, April 23rd. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 10:00 AM CST.
