Hawks Fall to #11 BSC

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon (27-8 overall, 11-3 CCS) fell to the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern (28-7 overall, 15-2 conf.) in a close non-conference matchup 3-2.

Senior Crimson Wells earned the start in the circle for the Hawks as she held off the Panthers across five innings allowing no runs and three hits.

Offensively, Huntingdon took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The runs were sponsored by a two run double from Bailey Murphy who scored Kamryn Miller who reached on a single and Natalie Ritchey who was walked.

In the top of the fifth inning, Brooke Cooper came in relief of Wells and gave up three hits and three runs to give the Panthers the 3-2 lead.

Katelyn Holcombe came to the circle next as she struck out two batters across her two innings pitched to hold the Panthers scoreless as the Hawks looked to tie the game.

Huntingdon was unable to come up with another run to force extra innings with runners on the corners in the bottom of the seventh with two outs. Two runners were left on as the Hawks fell to ranked BSC.

The Hawks travel to Wesleyan College to complete the regular season on Sunday at 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
