Hawks Sweep Wesleyan in Season Finale

MACON, Ga. - Huntingdon (29-8 overall, 13-3 CCS) defeated Wesleyan College (4-27 overall, 2-14 CCS) in their final double header of the regular season.

Game One: Huntingdon 12 – Wesleyan 4

A huge seven run first inning soared the Hawks to a victory in game one.

Wesleyan walked leadoff batter Natalie Ritchey and Brooke Stefankiewicz singled to get on. Ritchey scored the Hawks first run after a ground out and Jordan Holman hit her fifth homerun of the season to score Stefankiewicz and shoot the Hawks up 3-0. Four more singles from Dani Holt, Nevaeh McIntyre, Ritchey, and Stefankiewicz would bring in the final four runs of the first inning as the Hawks made it back to the top of their lineup.

Crimson Wells took her spot in the circle for Huntingdon pitching the first two innings and allowing no runs for the Wolves.

Miranda Treadway's RBI single scored Holman in the second after she reached with a single of her own and advanced on a passed ball (8-0).

With the Hawks up by eight, Holly Sharp entered the circle for the Hawks as Wesleyan had a four-run inning to cut the lead in half.

Katelyn Holcombe relieved Sharp and closed out the game with three strikeouts and no runs. Offensively, Huntingdon began to connect again in the top of the sixth inning. With five hits, four of them being singles, Bailey Murphy ended the game with her two-run single to push the lead back up by eight to run rule the Wolves.

Game Two: Huntingdon 7 – Wesleyan 1

Back-to-back starts to Crimson Wells lifted her to two wins on the day. Natalie Ritchey crossed the plate first for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Miranda Treadway walked in the second and was sent home by Dani Holt's single before the end of the second inning. Brooke Cooper relieved Wells in the circle for the next four innings as she allowed four hits and no runs for the Wolves.

Holt earned her second and third RBI in the top of the fourth as she singled to bring in Treadway and Katie Burch.

The final Hawks runs came in the seventh inning after Bailey Murphy reached on an error and Ritchey scored and later Elli Lorance hit a two-run single to lift the Hawks up by 7.

One run in the seventh off pitcher Aubree Flanagan sent Katelyn Holcombe back in the field for the Hawks to close out the game and complete the sweep of Wesleyan.
