Softball Loses to Maryville in CCS Semi-Final

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon (31-10 overall, 13-3 CCS) fell to Maryville College (27-13 overall, 12-4 CCS) in game six of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament, 4-2. The Hawks have not had a 30-win season since 2019.

The Hawks found themselves in the losing bracket after falling to Maryville yesterday but, a win over Agnes Scott claimed a rematch in game six of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament, the winner would advance to the championship game.

Maryville took the plate first and found two quick runs after a single to right field with runners on second and third. Huntingdon was able to claim one run back after a single from Natalie Ritchey and one from Bailey Murphy to send in Ritchey.

Both teams worked hard defensively and starting pitcher Crimson Wells was replaced by Holly Sharp in the fourth inning.

Huntingdon tied the game in the fifth at two runs. A double from Ritchey left Murphy up at the plate to do the same thing she did in the first inning and earn her second RBI of the day.

The Scots answered back in the sixth with two of their own runs before Katelyn Holcombe entered the circle to close out the inning. This left the Hawks forced to find some runs but after four hits and five left on base in the final two innings, Maryville advanced to the CCS Championship.
