Stefankiewicz And Murphy Reach Career Milestones, Hawks Sweep Agnes Scott

DECATUR,Ga.- In their second CCS double-header in as many days, Huntingdon softball(30-4 overall, 13-1 CCS) swept the Scotties of Agnes Scott College(12-23 overall, 5-9 CCS), winning the first game 14-8 and the second 10-0. 

Seniors Brooke Stefankiewicz and Bailey Murphy each hit major career milestones in these matchups, with Stefankiewicz earning her 100th stolen base and Murphy earning her 100th RBI.

Game one highlights

  • Huntingdon struck first in the opening frame with a sacrifice fly from Kylie Stephens bringing home Brooke Stefankiewicz to make the score 1-0
  • The Hawks opened up a five run tear in the top of the third inning to grow their lead to 6-0. Bailey Murphy kicked it all off with a single to bring home Kylie Stephens for Huntingdon's second run
  • Maddie Grace Hubbard followed Murphy with a single of her own to bring home Jordan Holman and put the Hawks ahead 3-0
  • Bailey Murphy scored at the following at bat to grow the lead to 4-0
  • Maddie Grace Hubbard scored off an at bat from Kamryn Miller to bring the score to 5-0
  • To close the frame, Riley Rudick found her way home off an error from the Scotties to give Huntingdon a 6-0 advantage
  • In the fourth inning, a single from Kylie Stephens allowed Brooke Stefankiewicz to score and extend the lead to 7-0
  • Later in the same frame, a sacrifice fly from Bailey Murphy brought home Lauren Watts to make the score 8-0
  • The Scotties got on the board for the first time off an error in the bottom of the fourth inning
  • Payton Gilchrist homered to kick off the fifth inning, bringing Huntingdon's lead to 9-1
  • In the bottom frame of the fifth inning, Agnes Scott began to claw their way back into the game, scoring five runs to cut the Hawks' lead to 9-6
  • Kate Dinkel brought an end to the Scotties' run in the top of the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly to bring home Bailey Murphy, bringing the score to 10-6
  • Four runs in the top of the seventh inning from Brooke Stefankiewicz, Jordan Holman, Bailey Murphy, and Maddie Grace Hubbard extended the Huntingdon lead to 14-6 entering the last frame
  • Agnes Scott scored two runs in the final frame, but could not complete the comeback, giving Huntingdon a 14-8 win

  • Allie Roberts started for the Hawks and earned her 15th win on the season, allowing three runs on four hits with eight strikeouts
  • Piper Messick relieved Roberts, allowing five runs on three hits

The Hawks close out the regular season at home on April 20th in a double-header against Wesleyan for Senior Day. Games are scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 PM CT.
