Hawks Down the Scotties to Gain Conference Win

Decatur, Georgia – Huntingdon grabbed their first conference win and regular season win against Agnes Scott College with a final of 74-44.

The game began with two exchanges of three pointers by both teams in the first two minutes of the game to tie the score at 6 before the Hawks would add another triple to take the lead for the remainder of the game. Huntingdon began an 11-0 run after that made 3 to bring the score to 18-6 before the Scotties added another bucket. Six made threes in the first quarter boosted the Hawks to a 24-8 lead heading into the second. Huntingdon continued to grow their lead in the second as they converted 11 points off Agnes turnovers and held them to 10 points for the quarter. The bench also erupted for the Hawks while adding 15 points in the second quarter alone, bringing the score heading into halftime 44-18.

First Half Stats:

Huntingdon made 8 first half threes and shot 42% from behind the arc. Alina Shoemake shot perfect from the field going 3-3 with 2 made threes, a layup, and a free-throw.  

In the second half, the Hawks continued to hold off the Scotties by only allowing two made three pointers and gaining 8 second chance points in the half. For the third quarter the Hawks began on a 10-0 run before heading into the fourth with a score of 59-28. The Hawks scored 15 points in the fourth to finish the game.

Second Half Stats:

Huntingdon added 12 of their 18 points in the paint and outscored Agnes 18-6. The bench added 15 points in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks travel to Rhodes College on December 7th to take on the Lynx in Memphis, Tennessee at 5pm CST.
