Hawks Fall to N.C. Wesleyan in Double Overtime

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Women's Lacrosse fell to N.C. Wesleyan, 12-11, in double overtime.

N.C. Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead at 13:53 of the first quarter but Celina Owens-Campbell tied it at 11:26. At 10:09, the Battling Bishops made it 2-1. 

At 3:33 of the second quarter, Zoe Dezaldivar tied the game at 2. N.C. Wesleyan made it 3-2 at 1:15 but Shelby Blair answered right back at 1:12 to tie it up before halftime.

Regan Bullock gave the Hawks a 4-3 lead at 13:27 of the third quarter. The Battling Bishops tied it at 9:33 followed by Bullock's second goal of the game at 8:52 to make it 5-4. N.C. Wesleyan tied it at 5 at 8:27. Michaela Haas scored back-to-back goals at 7:06 and 5:32 to give the Hawks a 7-5 lead. At 4:52 of the third quarter, N.C. Wesleyan made it 7-6. Owens-Campbell's second goal of the game at 3:24 made it 8-6 but the Battling Bishops scored again at 1:32 to come within 1.

In the fourth quarter, N.C. Wesleyan added 2 goals at 12:51 and 11:47 to regain the lead. Shelby Blair's second goal of the game at 10:41 tied it at 9 with an assist by Dylanie Chappel. N.C. Wesleyan took a 10-9 lead at 6:38. Haas tied the game at 5:31 but the Battling Bishops regained the lead at 1:25. Chappel tied the game at 11 with just 7 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. 

After no goals were scored in the first overtime, N.C. Wesleyan scored the game-winning goal with 44 seconds left in the second overtime.

Morgan Coppini made 3 saves on 15 shots. Reagan Bullock had 2 goals, 11 shots, and 2 ground balls. Michaela Haas totaled 3 goals on 8 shots with 6 ground balls. Celina Owens-Campbell had 2 goals on 7 shots with 7 ground balls. 

The Hawks travel to Brevard on March 26th. Game time is set for 12:00 PM CST.
